We have finally reached the end of the school year, which is a relief for most teachers as they can finally relax for a couple of weeks and recharge their batteries. For me however, the end of term was a time of mixed emotions. After taking the difficult decision to take a year out from my hectic schedule as teacher and athlete I can now concentrate on my athletics full time. On the flip side I will miss both colleagues and students I teach at John Flamsteed next academic year.
However, winning my first AAAs title at the UK Champs over 10,000m a week after the end of term I am confident that I have made a good decision. Whatever happens I have given myself the opportunity to fulfil my dreams.
